VME 64x (VME)-USB2.0 Controller

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 

The VUC3150 is a 1 unit wide VME master or slave controller with a high speed USB2 
interface. 
The USB interface uses the Cypress CY7C68013 USB 2.0 controller chip.
Although single cycle VME transactions are slow (typically 100us) block transfer speeds
of the order of 30Mbytes per second can be sustained. 
Single cycles can be pipelined to improve the performance.
Enhanced functionality is provided by the addition of one or two optional TigerSHARC
DSPs and a 64MB DRAM memory.
Four front panel Lemo connectors provide I/O control.

Applications

The VUC3150 USB2.0 to VME64x controller is a good choice whenever:
a.)    single cycle read/write performance is not of top importance
b.)    good single cycle performance is required, but single cycle transactions can be handled under control of the TigerSHARC DSP(s).

Applications comprise but are not limited to:

• test benches

• module acceptance testing

• hard realtime readout systems

• histogramming systems

• data destination for other VME masters/existing readout systems
   

Single cycle performance on the VUC3150 can be enhanced in two ways.

• pipelining of several cycles
• execution of VME transactions under control of the TigerSHARC DSP

Especially with the latter approach the USB2.0 to VME64x controller allows for the
implementation of very demanding hard realtime XE "realtime"  applications in
combination with the ease of use with your laptop computer.
