VME To CAMAC Adaptor Type VCA 3330

Product Description

The VCA 3330 is a VME Slave card which positions the registers of up to 8 Hytec 1331 CAMAC Crate Controllers in VME A16 address space. The CAMAC crates may be up to 20 metres away, connected by a 50 way daisy-chained ribbon cable.

Apart from the CAMAC Controller registers, an extra set of on–board registers are addressable, and these comprise of the standard Hytec VXI/VME set for overall control and identification. Through this set, interrupts to VME are selected (for IRQ level), enabled and vectored.

The CAMAC registers (see 1331 data sheet) may be addressed in either D16 or D08(E) mode, and allow a VME Master to load up N (station number), A (subaddress), F (function code) and three 8–bit data bytes.

The data registers can be read back, along with the CSR (for Q, X, I etc.), the encoded LAM Register (for LAMs) and also the NAF readback system.

In addition, the 16 bit repeat register may be used, to perform repetitive 16–bit CAMAC operations in a single VME cycle. 24–bit CAMAC operations will require an extra 8–bit access for the high data byte.
