Introduction
The 6335 is an Industry Pack Carrier card for the high performance PCI Express serial bus. This card is used in a ‘X1’ PCI Express slot and can accommodate two Industry Packs, which can be clocked at either 8MHz or 32MHz (individually selected). The PCI Express bus is converted to a ‘local bus’ by a bridge chip and then this local bus is interfaced to the Industry Pack (IP) Logic connectors by a Xilinx device.

The IP interface supports Memory, I/O, ID and Interrupt access to the Industry Packs in the same way as is used in the 9010 IOC from Hytec. IP interrupts are mapped to the PCI Express bus. Driver support is available for both Windows and LINUX environments.

The 50 I/O connections of each Industry Pack are fed via a single high-density 100 way header on the card bracket which connects to an external fine-pitch ribbon cable one metre long splitting this into two SCSI-2 male connectors. These I/O connections (one for each site) are compatible with Hytec’s range of DIN-rail mounted I/O termination and breakout assemblies. A single-pole LEMO connector is also fitted on the card bracket to allow an external TTL signal to be used as an ‘Enable’ for one or both Industry Packs.

The card receives both +12-volt and +3.3-volt power from the PCIe connector. From these it derives +5 volts and -12 volts for the Industry Packs. Further isolated + and -12 volt power can be provided by an on-board DC-DC converter. These supplies are intended as front-end power for isolated ADC or DAC Industry Packs and are selected by jumpers for each site.

Power requirements:
• +12 volts at 3 amps maximum.
• +3.3 volts at 0.5 amps maximum.
